Off the Menu OC is written and edited by Christopher Trela and Catherine Del Casale, the dining columnists for the Newport Beach Independent. 

Christopher is a member of Southern California Restaurant Writers Association, and has covered the So Cal dining scene for OC Menus, OC Wine, Dining Out, and the Newport Beach Independent.

Catherine hails from Napa Valley, and is a recent graduate of Chapman University. She's passionate about food and wine.

So many restaurants, so little time!
 
That was our typical dilemma when dining out in Newport Beach last year. 

The economy bounced back in 2013, and so did diners. Restaurants seemed more packed than usual, always a good sign.

Naturally, we had many memorable dining experiences, and dishes, over the past 12 months.
